Don't Follow Your Dreams, Follow Your Purpose

Dreams are important. They’re what keep us going when things get tough and they remind us of what we’re fighting for. But at the end of the day, our dreams are just that: dreams.

What really matters is our purpose. Our purpose is what drives us to do what we do. It’s why we get up in the morning and it’s what keeps us going when things get tough. Our purpose is what makes us unique. It’s what makes us who we are. And it’s something that we can chase after with everything we’ve got.

The challenge with pursuing your passions is that they aren't always in line with what you think you should be doing. It's easy to give up on our goals when the going gets tough, if we aren't truly invested in them.

Ask yourself: What’s your purpose? What drives you to do what you do? And once you find it, don’t let anything stop you from chasing it. Even the toughest challenges become worth overcoming when we're following our purpose.

There are a few key steps you can take to find your purpose:

1. Know yourself

The first step is self-awareness. You need to know who you are, what you stand for, and what you’re passionate about. Without this self-awareness, it will be difficult to find your purpose.

2. Get rid of the distractions

The second step is getting rid of the distractions in your life. These can be anything that takes your focus away from what’s important to you. This may include things like social media, television, or even negative people in your life.

3. Follow your heart

The third step is following your heart. This means listening to your intuition and doing what feels right for you. It can be difficult to do this, but it’s important to trust yourself.

4. Take action

The fourth and final step is taking action. This is where you put your plans into motion and start pursuing your goals. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.

Life's decisions, actions, and outcomes can all benefit from having a higher purpose. Some people find their calling in life through the work they do. Following your purpose, whatever it may be, will make you feel like you're doing exactly what you were destined to do.

If you can't figure out what your purpose is in a few days, weeks, or months, that's okay. For some, it can be a journey that lasts a lifetime. And that you can only do it one step at a time. You might also find that your goal changes as time goes on. You can have more than one goal, for sure. Just keep in mind that getting somewhere doesn't always require you to alter your current strategy.

And then sometimes, you might want to stop what you're doing and think about whether the path you're on is leading you where you want to go. If it's not, you can change what you're doing. The path to self-discovery isn't a straight line; it may have twists, forks, and even dead ends.

Remember, your purpose is what drives you to do what you do. It’s what makes you unique. And it’s something that you can chase after with everything you’ve got. So, don’t follow your dreams, follow your purpose. And never give up on what you believe in.
